Top Things to Do in Budapest: Parliament Tour and Castle Hill

This is day 4 of our 4-day adventure in Budapest.

After wandering downtown, visiting the baths, and exploring City Park, we spent our final day in Hungary visiting the top three things to do in Budapest, which are:
1. Go on a tour of the Parliament building
2. Check out Matthias Church (which personally, we think is way better than St. Stephen's Basilica)
3. Walk along Fisherman's Bastion.

1. 0:16 Budapest Parliament Building Tour. The tour of Budapest Parliament is amazing and very informative. It's also extremely popular (it's the number 1 thing to do in Budapest, after all) so you absolutely have to reserve tickets before you go. They will sell out. 2. 7:34 Matthias Church. The second best thing to do in Budapest is visiting Matthias Church. We've been in a LOT of churches, cathedrals, mosques, synagogues, and other holy buildings. This is one of our favorites. Not only is it so well decorated and beautiful, but you have access to three levels, allowing you amazing views of the altar, organ, and nave. You can also get really close to the frescoes and paintings. St. Stephen's Basilica (which you can see at the end of our Day 1 video) is grand and majestic, but it's not that different from a lot of the other major cathedrals and basilicas in Europe, so it doesn't wow you like Matthias Church does.

3. 10:45 Fisherman's Bastion (Halászbástya). This looks like a fortress wall spanning across Castle Hill (which is also called Buda Hill), but it was actually built specifically as a decorative viewing terrace for the millennial celebration of the Hungarian state. It has incredible views of Budapest and it's beautiful on its own.
