The birth of the child is safe between 37 to 40 weeks of gestation. Here what I mean is before 37 weeks of gestation, the baby if it is born, it is called a premature baby. 36 weeks to 37 weeks is called late preterm births but any birth between the period of viability , that is say after 20 weeks onwards, 25 to 36 weeks would be quite a premature baby. The normal maturity of the baby is said to be 37 to 40 weeks. The 39th week of gestation is the best time for the baby to deliver because that is the time when the baby is completely mature. Around two thirds of the delivery happens between 3 weeks prior to the expected date of delivery. Around 80% of the births happen on the expected date of delivery. So if the birth of the baby happens at 39 weeks or a little before or after that, it is a good gestational age for the vaginal births or the caesarian section births to take place.
