As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t play Minecraft 1.16.2 Java Edition on a laptop with Optifine and the settings in this video. So, without any more delay, here is how to make Minecraft run faster in 1.16.2!

First things first, you will need to download and install Optifine. Optifine is a must have when it comes to making Minecraft 1.16.2 run smoother. Luckily, we have an in-depth tutorial in the description above that has helped over 2 million people get Optifine downloaded, installed, and setup in Minecraft. Because of this, I’m sure it will be able to help you as well. Even if you have no experience with Minecraft mods, that tutorial will help you out!

After you have Optifine installed, you can open up the Minecraft launcher. However, before pressing play, click on the installations tab at the top of the launcher, click the three dots on your Optifine profile, and click edit. Then, click ‘more options’. You will then see a ‘JVM Arguments’ box. Here you can add more RAM to Minecraft by changing ‘2G’ to however much RAM you want. For example, 4GB of RAM would be ‘4G’. Now though, you can open up Minecraft 1.16.2 with Optifine. Once you are on the main menu, click on options, and first, click on resource packs. Make sure all of your resource packs are disabled. For the most lag free Minecraft experience, you will want to just use the default resource pack. Click done, and click on video settings. Here is where we can really start improving Minecraft’s performance.

As a general rule, you want to have everything turned either off, fast, or all the way down. For example, smooth light is off and render distance is turned all the way down. This is the best way to make Minecraft less laggy in 1.16.2. There is one exception to this rule, and that is the ‘performance’ tab. In this menu, you want to turn everything on. This includes fast math, fast render, etc. However, you do want to make sure chunk updates are set to one. After you have done this on all of the tabs and menus in the video settings, you are done.

Minecraft 1.16.2 is now optimized to be lag free. Jump into Minecraft and check your FPS, see if your game is lagging, and overall, make sure things are fun and playable. You can play around with settings from here. For example, if you want to increase your render distance, you can do so as long as it doesn’t add more lag to Minecraft 1.16.2.
