The 9 Best Sheep Breeds for Meat

In this video I'm covering my favorite sheep breeds for meat. Of course you know that I keep Dorper sheep for meat, so that's my first choice.

1. Dorper sheep are maybe my favorite livestock animal out there. Of course, I'm biased, but for good reason though. They are large sheep, that will put on muscle on a wide range of diet.

2. Obviously the Suffolk is going to make this list. They are probably the most prolific sheep, being found on nearly every continent. This is the sheep everyone thinks of for meat sheep.

3. The American Blackbelly is a beautiful hair sheep with possibly the most handsome ewes out there. The rams also look cool, but apparently they knock heads more often than others.

4. The East Friesian sheep is mainly a dairy sheep, but it does have an application to mix into a small meat sheep flock. Their high milk yield can help young lambs grow quickly.
