A morning at our bird feeder in Costa Rica

Greetings Birders! After some attempts at running a 24-7 live cam, I've opted for videos instead. I will do a live cam in the peak birding season, sometime in October. From that, I'll have lots of footage to edit together. I'm also going to create a series of short videos of individual birds.

Lots of comments about bread and nails. This was the only day I put bread on the feeder. I was throwing everything out there to attract as many birds as possible. Their favorite food: Bananas. The nails don't hurt them. They help keep the larger birds from carrying off the food (it only takes a few seconds and fruit is expensive!). I've since stopped using the nails though.

Cast of characters: Collared Aracari Toucans, several kinds of woodpeckers, Oropendula, Palm Tanagers, Blue/Gray Tanagers, Baltimore Orioles, Clay-colored Thrush (the national bird of Costa Rica), Red-legged Honeycreepers, Black-Cowled Oriole, Euphonias, a few varieties of hummingbirds, and more. In the trees but not in view, parrots and a Keel-billed Toucan. Every morning is like a trip to the zoo!
