This Tiny Tokyo Factory Makes Notebooks on 50-Year-Old Machines

About twenty people in a small factory in downtown Tokyo make some of the most loved notebooks in the world. LIFE has been around since 1946. They designed their own paper, a cream-colored sheet so smooth your pen just glides across it. Every notebook is stitched by hand on modified sewing machines with custom-built parts. They adjust the factory's temperature and humidity every day because paper expands and curls with the weather.
Their most popular notebook, the Noble Note, has a retro cover design found by accident during a warehouse cleanup. Nobody knows who drew it. It just felt right.
Slow, inefficient, and worth every page.
