EDC Gentleman's Tray Made With Traditional Woodworking Joinery

In this project I make a beautiful little tray using only hand tools and traditional hand cut joinery that was inspired by Japanese woodworking. I use sliding dovetails, tusked or wedged mortise and tenons, and rabbets and dados to make this tray and its made out of Walnut, Maple, and Cocobolo.

Big thank you to Woodpeckers Tools for making such high quality precision squares and layout tools. Having and using accurate and precise tools like these really gives me the confidence I need when doing this kind of work! I have used poor quality squares in the past and it becomes very frustrating and problematic when your tools are truly square or stay square.

And a big thank you to Japan Woodworker for sending me such amazing hand made Japanese chisels. I have been using their Matsumura Japanese Blue steel chisel almost exclusively for several months now and am truly in love with them. There is something about using such beautiful high quality and hand made tools like these that inspire and push you to do them justice and do the best work you possibly can.
