The U.S. Dept. of Defense asserts "fifth generation" fighters that will be deployed by Russia, China, and France in the next 3 to 5 years will sharply reduce the technological/war-fighting edge that current U.S. warplanes have. These new warplanes are likely to be exported to over 50 countries posing a problem for the U.S. military in any future conflict if current trends continue.
