What exactly is a Cold Front?
In this video, we will take a quick look at what exactly a cold front is, how it forms, and what type of weather it produces. Cold fronts occur where cold, often continental polar air masses, interact with warmer, more humid air masses. The less dense warm air is forced to rise quickly over the heavy, dense cold air. When the air rises, it expands, cools, and condenses into clouds. The result is a short period of heavy precipitation that occurs along the cold front.
