UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm was a mixed martial arts event held on 14 November 2015, at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. It was the most attended UFC event in the history of the company at the time, with 56,214 people filling the stadium.

Just like throughout the build-up to this fight, Holm showed no signs of nerves hitting the cage and started working the game plan most expected from the outset, sticking and moving, forcing Rousey to chase and frustrating the champion and tagging her throughout. Rousey looked flustered early and it only got worse as the night wore on and by the end of the first, it was clear that Holm was in the driver’s seat.

Less than a minute later, it was over.

With Rousey fighting desperate, Holm capitalized, dodging Rousey’s advances and sniping her as she approached. At one point, she was a matador to the champion’s charging bull and you could see Rousey’s will was shattered. Then Holm spun her to the floor with a left hand and when the bloodied Rousey stood… KA-BOOM!

Shin. Neck. Goodnight. New champ.

This was a mauling and the then-new champion just turned the division – and maybe the sport – on it’s head in Melbourne.
