Synthetic Wig Tutorial: How to Depoof Big Synthetic Hair

Sometimes you get a new synthetic piece and WOAH - tons of volume that makes it look wiggy. This synthetic wig tutorial video will go over what I do to help depoof wigs and toppers that are way too poofy. This will help any synthetic (or kanekalon) hair fiber.

And yes! You can use low-level heat on synthetic hair to help tame it and get it to behave. Just make sure you hold the hair dryer about a foot away so that you don't damage the fiber.

This clip in topper is the 18" Top Wave by Jon Renau in color Salted Caramel. It's barely clipped in and not customized in any way, but I thought I'd plop it on to show you the color. :) This is a hair topper I'd probably work with to remove some of the poof from to make her more realistic.

Of course, if you need extra depoofing, you may want to go the route of actually thinning out your wig or topper with thinning shears - but that's for another day.
