• Apparently, I spend an average 4 and half hours daily messing around with my phone. Most of it is during the week.
• Finance, Investing, and productivity apps take a huge chunk of my time. Let’s talk about ‘must have’ personal finance and investing apps out there. This of course is just my opinion
• I will break these in 4 categories - stocks, crypto, real estate and personal finance. And yes, they all are free
• If you guys follow this channel you know I am huge fan of M1 Finance. I’ve have built my long term portfolio on this platform and it just works. By the way, there is a link to my portfolio in the description, if you care
• There are number of reasons to love M1 - automatic investing, commission free investing, access to cheap money, flexible investment options, checking account, credit cards. There is a ton out there. I have a dedicate video on M1 Finance where I share more details
• So that’s long term investing. I use Robinhood for trading. Mostly options. In my past life, thinkorswim was my app of choice.
• Switched to Robinhood the day I realized I had paid 11K in commissions. I still do Robinhood. I think the app is slick, extremely light and functional.
• I use Stock Master and Webull to track stocks. They also offer useful widgets. I want to say stock master is my most used app.
• CNBC give me the information I need to stay on top of the news. Apart from the news, I use this app to watch live CNBC.
• Talking about news, Atom Finance is another slick app. I use this for two reasons 1. To get real time news via the notifications.
• If social is your thing, Stocktwit is your app. I am not a social guy but I use this app to get an idea of what people are talking about. What’s trending?
• If I had to pick just one app that does it all, it has to be Yahoo Finance. It looks good, is functional, and offers a lot of useful features
• Watchlist, News, Portfolio aggregator, Widgets, and more. This is probably tied with Stock Master as my two most used apps. Just love everything about it
• Crypto is back in vogue. Bitcoin is knocking 50K and Ethereum at 3300. Good times. I try to target 4% of my net worth in Crypto
• I have spread my crypto across 3 services. Celsius, Blockfi and Voyager. Mostly to diversify. They all offer more less the same features including interest. For buying and selling, I use Voyager only. Finally, I use CoinStats for tracking my Crypto portfolio.
• I’ve been using Refine and Zillow for years and they work well. Yes, I use the apps on my phone but the real value is in the research that both Zillow and Redfin offer on their website
• Finally, how do you bring all of this together? My favs are Mint and Personal Capital. Mint work really well. I want to say it is pretty comprehensive.
• Personal Capital is elegant. A clean, beautiful and a functional app. No ads. I strongly recommend using their retirement planning tool. I use it. It works
• Two other apps worth mentioning are PayPal and Venmo. Where possible I try to use PayPal for any online transactions.
• Venmo is mostly for personal transactions - collecting rent or paying contractors. My bills and other payments are managed via the Bank of America app
