Farming In A Blizzard!

Winter is quickly approaching here at Cornstar Farms. Snow has already begun! However, just because snow is on the ground, it does not mean that work has slowed down for us. We are currently in the middle of corn harvest 2019 and have several hundred acres of corn left to harvest.

Since everything was covered in snow, Dad and I were able to get a couple time consuming projects around the bin site done. The first one involving "Corn Mountain" in the big machine shed. My phone died once I got in the rafters of the building, but we achieved what we set out to do when we climbed up there.

Once we got done in the big machine shed, we ran out to "Tabletop" to tear the hydraulic pump off the 2001 Case IH 2388 combine. Since it snowed the night before, was windy, and was below freezing, it was quite an enjoyable experience. We got the pump pulled off with minimal issues and headed back to the main heated shop. Once we got there, I changed the oil on the 1991 Case IH 7140 and greased the 2019 Brent V700 Grain Cart. The night ended with Dad and I passing out on the couch.

The next day Daddy Cornstar and I had a grave to dig. I checked all the fluids on equipment, loaded everything up. Before we went to the cemetery, Dad and I ran back to the combine to help Ryan put on the new hydraulic pump. We got the new pump on the combine only to realize the issue was still not resolved, so we had to pull it off again. Ryan headed back to the main heated shop to work on that while Dad and I ran off to dig the grave. We got done just before dark.
