HMCS Barrie Labour Of Love

This 55 minute documentary shows my grandfather Don Houghton building a scale model from scratch of the Flower-class corvette HMCS Barrie which was in service during World War II.

The documentary cuts between Don building the boat while we hear the thoughts of the men who served on the corvettes during the war including several who served on the Barrie herself.

The building of the model took place between March and November of 1995 and the finished model is still on display today in the Georgian Mall in Barrie, Ontario.

I am extremely proud of my grandfather not only for this project but for his own service in the Navy during the 1950's and I wanted to share this project with anybody who may be interested in such an undertaking.
