Organ Mountains (NM): 2-min peek at 4 hikes

This is a quick 2-min peek at 4 day hikes in the Organ Mountains and Desert Peaks National Monument. Two hikes began on the eastern side, near the Aguirre Spring campground. The other two began on the western side, near the Visitor Center. The Center is a short 13-mile drive from Las Cruces, NM. The images were collected June 1-3, 2022.

1. Pine Tree Loop: Moderate 4+ mile hike. The trailhead is just east of the Aguirre Spring campground.
2. Baylor Pass Trail: Strenuous 11+ mile hike (there and back). I began at the trailhead just west of the Aguirre Spring campground. You can also begin at the parking lot on Baylor Canyon Road.
3. Dripping Springs Trail: Easy 3-mile hike. The trailhead is near the park visitor center.
4. La Cueva Trail: Easy 1-mile hike. The trailhead is near the park visitor center. The cave was the home of the Healing Hermit (Giovanni Maria de Agostini). Images included in the 3-minute Dripping Spring video.

* Note: the Aguirre Spring campground costs $7 dollars a night. Most campsites offer some shade. There are outhouses but no running water/showers. The 6-mile access road is long and windy; the gate is locked before dark (check on the access hours before arriving late).
