Bucket elevators are designed to move flowing powders or bulk solids vertically. They are attached to an endless spliced loop of belt/chain which travels in a continuous fashion around the tail pulley/sprocket from the boot section of an elevator, where the buckets are loaded.

Bucket elevators are used to vertically convey bulk materials. Although similar to conveyor belts, bucket elevators transport material using buckets attached to a rotating belt or chain. These buckets pick up bulk material, transport it to an endpoint and then discharge the material.
