A Gigantic Mysterious Burst of Light Over Martian Hill Was Seen By Perseverance's Navigation Camera
NASA's Mars Perseverance rover acquired these images using its onboard Left Navigation Camera (Navcam). The camera is located high on the rover's mast and aids in driving. These images were acquired on Jul. 23, 2021 (Sol 151).
This rare phenomenon of burst of light was also seen on May 10, 2021. Though NASA has not given any explanation about this phenomenon but this could possibly be a lens flare which is caused when a light source such as the Sun shines onto a lens during photography.
