This 1700s colonial site has been lost to local history and never before been located or mapped. It is so far out into the old forest and very hard to find and difficult to see with the terrain. The interesting thing about this site is that it is completely quiet in the ground when using the metal detector. Even around the cellar hole which should be loaded with iron signals from all the nails left from the old house. What it comes down to is the heavy laser of carbon and magnesium left from a massive forest fir that happened here back in the 1930. The Carbon acts as a RF Radio Frequency absorber keeping the detector from finding and hearing targets underneath the heavy burn layer in the soil. I seem to get lucky and find a small pocket where there are relics within the first couple inches of the surface. A few buttons and a set of cufflinks from the 1700s that say tallio and have a fox on them. This site is an amazing find and now documented for the preservation of local history
as well as the relics recovered.
