Wooden Edges Removed(2), five months and a few slugs later

Raised beds do not have to be enclosed by wooden sides, and you save a lot of money by not using them. Plus there are other advantages.
I show you removing the last pieces of wood which were on top of a cardboard edge-mulch. It's interesting what I found under the wood!
The bed edge is now a thin line of woodchip, then grass, dandelions and creeping buttercup, which I cut along to maintain.

You can make a new bed without wooden sides, just they are useful in the first few months, to hold compost in place.
