हर साल 24 अप्रैल को राष्ट्रीय पंचायती राज दिवस (National Panchayati Raj Day) के रूप में मनाया जाता है। भारत में पंचायती राज व्यवस्था की शुरुआत कैसे हुई, इसका ऐतिहासिक और संवैधानिक महत्व क्या है, और 73वें संविधान संशोधन की भूमिका इसमें कितनी महत्वपूर्ण रही।

Did you know that Article 40 of the Directive Principles of State Policy (DPSP) in the Indian Constitution directs states to establish village panchayats?
The journey began with the Nagaur district in Rajasthan in 1959, but it took multiple committees, such as the Balwant Rai Mehta Committee, Ashok Mehta Committee, and Hanumantha Rao Committee, to shape the framework we use today.

1992 में 73वें संविधान संशोधन के जरिए पंचायती राज को संवैधानिक दर्जा मिला और 9वें भाग व 11वीं अनुसूची में 29 विषयों को इसके अधीन लाया गया।
