Straw Breathing for Self-Regulation with Fleet Maull
When emotionally triggered by an event like a fight with a partner, disagreement with a co-worker, someone cutting you off in traffic, or getting nervous about a public speaking engagement, your body has an automatic survival response, known as fight or flight, that can leave you feeling tight and agitated. It's often painful and doesn't help you make good decisions. On top of that, you have little control over your emotions or reactions. Luckily, there is a simple technique called Straw Breathing where you call upon your own nervous system's capacity to rebalance itself in order to down-regulate or relax. Your thinking will begin to clear, your body will relax and your emotions will begin to settle. You'll feel back in control, balanced, and ready to respond to challenges skillfully.
