See the GOLD/WHITE: Flip the Dress Colors! (Slowly uncovering the dress)

Have you only seen the blue/black in the dress? This video will help you see gold/white, effectively flipping your perception. || HOW IT WORKS...

The three original images from Wired.com display three pictures of the same dress. The one in the middle is the original, the one on the right is darker, and the one on the left is lighter. For some people, the one of the left looks gold and white and the one on the right looks blue and black. For others, it doesn't make a difference; all of them look like different shades of the same colors. This video is for people who, when looking at all three photos, only see shades of blue and black. The video starts with a small piece from the dress on the left. This is the piece that--individually--is actually gold on the picture. I did NOT use any picture-editing effects to make it look "more" gold. That is, the RGB color balance is very similar to standard gold RGB color balances. When you start off looking at only that piece, your eye is trained to recognize the darker stripes as gold. As the image is uncovered upward, it gets harder and harder to maintain the gold, but try to concentrate. (If you are on a computer, full screen will work best.) As more of the dress is slowly unveiled, your eyes retain the color that they were originally taught to see. The reason the dress is upside down initially is because it puts the dress in an unfamiliar context. It’s not in the same orientation that you’ve seen it everywhere else. This transition from an unfamiliar out-of-context rectangle to the entire dress helps you see it as gold from the beginning, which makes it easier to hold onto the gold through the rest of the video. Additionally, notice that the background is black. This emphasizes the contrast with the darker stripes that aren't perfectly black, making them look gold.
For a detailed explanation of this principle, "Color Constancy", see the AsapSCIENCE video on this dress.

Does this help you see both colors on the dress? Let me know in the comments below.
