Class 7: Control Linux Like a Hacker – Users, Processes & Firewall

Class 7 of our Cybersecurity Training Series focuses on Linux User & Group Management, Process Handling, APT Package Management, and UFW Firewall Configuration. This session is designed to give you real-world, practical control over a Linux system exactly what’s required in penetration testing, system administration, and SOC environments.

You’ll learn how to create, modify, and manage users and groups, monitor and control system processes, install and manage software using APT, and secure your system using UFW firewall rules. These are not optional skills — this is baseline competency if you’re serious about cybersecurity.

This class includes command-level understanding and practical usage, making it ideal for beginners stepping into Linux as well as intermediate learners strengthening their fundamentals.

Topics Covered:

Linux User Management (useradd, usermod, passwd, etc.)
Group Management (groupadd, groupmod, permissions basics)
Process Management (ps, top, kill, background jobs)
APT Package Manager (install, update, remove software)
UFW Firewall (allow/deny rules, port control, security basics)

If you can’t control users, processes, and firewall rules, you’re not controlling the system simple as that.

Who This Is For:

Cybersecurity beginners
CEH / Penetration Testing students
Linux learners
SOC Analysts & IT students

Practice Along:
Use a Linux VM (Kali Linux / Ubuntu) and follow the commands step by step to build real skills.
