Today on our 2017 Ford F250 Super Duty Super Crew Cab, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains with VBar links, part number TC3831CAM. That's tire size 275/65R20. These Titan Snow Tire Chains feature VBar studs, so they're going to give us superior traction on snow and ice. They also feature a ladder pattern, so they're going to be extremely effective during starts and stops. Most chains require or need a rubber adjuster or an additional part to help keep them tight and snug around the tire. The integrated cams help achieve that tight, secure fit. It features a locking lever here in the front, to make locking and connecting easy.
They have a maximum speed rating of 30 mph and they come in a quantity of two. Now I'll show you how easy they are to get installed. To start off we're going to be putting tire chains on the rear tires of our F250 because it is rear wheel drive. So to begin our test fit I've gone ahead and laid out my chain. We want to make sure there's no kinks, twists or any tangles in it. We also want to be sure that our cams are in the unlock position and on the outside of our tire. Now lets go ahead and drape it over our tire.
Grab here at the center, bring it up over. Now we want to be sure they're even on both sides. An easy way to check that is to grab here at the front, feel around to the back and make sure it's about the same. Then we can finish draping around our tire and we're going to connect the back side first. So you're on the back side, what we want to do is take our hook here and our links here and connect them together. We don't want to connect too many links together because then won't be able to connect the front side evenly.
For this tire I'm going to go ahead and connect to the third link. The excess chain I can either zip-tie to the next links over or I can just cut it off. It's your preference. Now lets do the front. Here on the front side we're going to kind of do the same thing only this time we've got a lever that's going to help us tighten it down and lock it in position. We also want to be sure that we connect as many links as we can ...
I think it's just going to be the third one. Let's go ahead and try one more link. So I've got the fourth one here and I kind of pull up on the tire, make sure the link goes all the way down to the bottom of the lever, and then I'm going to fold it backward and connect it to the keeper link here. Now it's time to tighten up our cams. Let's go ahead and take our included tool and we'll start right here. So we'll put it in, we'll turn it until it locks in a position. Then we'll just work our way around. You can see how it's starting to tighten up our chain, that's what we want. Get our last one here, I think we'll be all set. Perfect. We're ready to repeat the same process for the tire on the opposite side. Once you get both sides installed, the manufacturer does recommend using a rubber adjuster. What this is going to do is it's going to help keep that chain nice and snug around the tire when we're on the road. It's going to act as a tension control. They're very easy to install. Be sure that the hook is facing away from the tire and you can pick up two with part number TCMA2. We'll start by connecting the top, then we'll go directly across, then we'll just work our way around. Now it is a good idea to drive a short distance, stop get out and check to see if you need to make any adjustments. And that's going to complete our test fit of the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains with VBar links, part number TC3831CAM on our 2017 Ford F250 Super Duty Super Crew Cab.
