Unlock Faster Share Selling: What is DDPI and How to Enable It

Many new investors face a common issue — opening a demat account to buy shares, but when it’s time to sell, they have to enter the TPIN repeatedly, causing delays in selling.

In today's video, I share a great hack to solve this problem! To sell shares, you need a TPIN from CDSL.

If you don’t have one, visit the CDSL website, enter your BO ID (found easily in your broker’s app profile), PAN number, and OTP. Your TPIN will be sent to your email and phone. You can even change it to your preferred PIN anytime.

But here’s the real game changer. In 2022, SEBI launched the Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction (DDPi), a one-time authorisation that lets your broker sell shares on your behalf without requiring the TPIN every time.

This facility is available both online and offline. For Zerodha users, the process is simple and quick:
• Log in to your Zerodha Console.
• Click the arrow next to Account Details and select Demat.
• Enable DDPI, accept terms and conditions, and continue.
• Sign digitally by entering your Aadhaar number and OTP for verification.
Within 48 hours, your DDPi will be activated, allowing you to sell shares without entering TPIN repeatedly.
