Updated Montessori Practical Life Shelf at 2.5 years old. Practical Life activities aren't a replacement for real life scenarios-theyre a supplement for when she wants to keep pouring, scooping, transfering, etc. These aren't the ONLY toys or activities. Practical Life Shelf doesn't replace her pretend play toys. These Montessori practical life activities are ones I notice her doing throughout the day and while she has the opportunity to do these in their real life application, the number of times she'd like to do these practical life activities is going to outnumber the number of scenarios we actually have at home. That is the purpose of the Montessori Practical Life Shelf. This isn't all she has available to her. Yes she has "regular toys". But these are always her favorite activities, especially when it's a fresh rotation 😌 I try to have a variety of difficulties (easy mastered works to ones with multiple steps) and different variations of fine motor work so regardless of what mood she's in, there's an option for her! As she's gotten older, I notice her gravitate towards the extremes. Either the very complex activities or the very simple ones when she needs a break!
