Over 200 premature babies die at Mulago due to equipment failures
Parliament's Public Accounts Committee says it has information indicating that more than 200 premature babies died at the Mulago Specialized Women and Neonatal Hospital between July 2022 and June 2023. The deaths are attributed to non-functional hospital equipment, such as intensive care unit beds and dialysis machines, which are essential for treating women and children. The revelation came to light during a visit by the PAC to the hospital as it followed up on queries for the financial year 2022/2023 as reflected in the Auditor General’s report.
