Bill Goodwin: Recollections of the 1954 Shooting in the House Chamber—Part One
At age 15, Bill Goodwin jumped at the chance to help support his four siblings and widowed mother when asked by Michigan Representative George Dondero to serve as a House Page, a position he held from 1953 to 1955. Mr. Goodwin shares his eyewitness account of the shooting in the House Chamber on March 1, 1954.
The interview was conducted on November 2, 2009 by the Office of History and Preservation as part of the U.S. House of Representatives Oral History Program.
