Newry Bridge Replacement over Poplar Run Time-Lapse

We utilized Accelerated Bridge Construction techniques for the Newry Bridge replacement project in Blair Township, Pennsylvania, to reduce the required detour duration from the typical 2-3 months to a maximum of 13 days.

The new bridge is supported by precast concrete abutments founded on steel H-piles. Four prefabricated deck modules consisting of steel beams with a precast concrete bridge deck were set on the abutments. Our design included ultra-high performance concrete to connect the deck modules. A cast-in-place concrete sidewalk and concrete end diaphragms completed the bridge construction.

We designed drainage upgrades, sidewalk, curbing, and ADA-compliant curb ramps for the rebuilt approach roadways. We performed preliminary and final design, environmental and traffic studies, and construction support services for this $2 million PennDOT District 9-0 project.
