Summits On The Air in the Jungle? - SOTA Portable QRP Ham Radio

Today we head up "Tutamoe" - Northland of New Zealand's second highest peak for a New Years Eve/New Years Day roll-over activation. In the SOTA program you can receive points for an activation of a peak only once per calendar year.

Many activators take advantage of UTC rollover on the 31st of December/1st of Janurary whereby you can activate a peak twice in one trip and still get points for both activations, when the activations sit on either side of UTC 00:00 (January 1st).

One activation was in the closing hour of 2020, the other in the opening hour of 2021. (UTC time)
