Sunday, January the 30th, 2022 - 7:40 in the morning,

This video felt like a confusing creative puzzle where almost all of the pieces were the same color, but the photo on the box was full of different colors. You know what I mean?

First off, it felt somewhat ironic to bring a college dropout to a conference about the future of education. I was tempted to title the video something along those lines, but I didn't really see how it would fit into the narrative. Moreover, this was my first time at a conference. I don't know if you've ever been to a conference or what I was expecting it to be like, but I felt like we had been given a secret pass into some simulation.

One night I went out to a dinner that the event had arranged and everyone was standing around talking/networking. I was feeling tired from the long day, so I decided to find my seat and see who else I was going to be sitting around. I figured I could look up their name tags and get a headstart by doing some research on them and that perhaps that would be a good way to spend my 10 minutes before the dinner commenced. Well, I looked up the name tag on my left side and one of the first articles that popped up had the headline of "__ raised $130 Million from Bill Gates + Mark Zuckerburg for Education Startup." She was one of the many incredible people I met who were working on really ambitious projects. However, everyone I met seemed a bit pessimistic about the future; they didn't believe that governments would do anything or that they could trust anyone in power to make real change. That struck me a bit, but on the other hand, what they were optimistic about was the youth and our ability to radically shift the future.

That's stuck with me. Again, I'm not here to make any conclusions, but I do feel like it's important to discuss this. School should be fun, something we look forward to, and a place that can help us all become better versions of ourselves. I don't want to be too idealistic, but I feel like that shouldn't be too much to ask? But again, It's just such a complex issue. There are a million factors and things to take into consideration, but I'd love to hear some of your ideas in the comments. What would you do to change the education system in your country? What do you like/dislike, etc?

One of my largest takeaways from this whole experience is that there has to be a better way to approach college/higher education. It's a conversation that I've had with my friends before, but this has only further sparked my curiosity for the "college experiment" that I want to test out. That's all I'll say for now, but I look forward to sharing that adventure with you-

See you soon,
Max
