Sonic Rush Stylish Retrospective

A boost of modern Sonic glory for the handhelds! We're reviewing 2005's Sonic Rush for the Nintendo DS and how it served as the precursor to the Boost game formula - in both achievements and hindrances.

This is a Stylish Retrospective: part of a fashionably-edited series reviewing stylish games from the past and present and what clever gameplay hooks and/or emotional resonances they have to offer. In this episode, I discuss how Dimps' foundation for the boost system offered an offensive and expendable ability to Sonic gameplay that would inspire future console games, the charming development and companionship of the new playable character Blaze the Cat and ultimately how the title struggles to bring out the best of both of these fields without proper focus and structuring.
