Integrity in Governance: Dominic Barton and Christopher Ragan
Integrity in Governance: Global Capitalism in the Long Run
A leadership dialogue with DOMINIC BARTON, Managing Director of McKinsey & Co. and PROFESSOR CHRISTOPHER RAGAN, Associate Professor, Macroeconomics and Economic Policy, McGill University.
This leadership dialogue organized by the Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management (MDIIM) focused around integrity as it relates to a firm's values, its interactions with clients, and how it can be integrated into public policy. Dominic Barton, Global Managing Director of McKinsey & Company, perhaps the world’s most prominent management consulting firm. He has a fascinating perspective on integrity — from the importance of ethics in business and the need for capitalism to take a longer-run view, to the compatibility of economic prosperity and environmental sustainability.
McGill economics professor Christopher Ragan is a long-time analyst of Canadian economic policy, is currently the Chair of Canada’s Ecofiscal Commission, and has been a senior advisor to both the Governor of the Bank of Canada and to the federal Minister of Finance. Together, they discussed integrity in governance, including whether management schools today are teaching what is really needed for tomorrow’s business leaders to perform in a way that is both good for shareholders and for society.
The event is part of the Integrated Management Symposium Series. Members of the McGill and Montreal community are invited to explore management through intimate conversations between prominent McGill academics and world leaders in their fields. The series encourages participants to broaden their perspective in order to address the significant ecological, social, and economic challenges facing today's societies.
These free symposia are organized by the Marcel Desautels Institute for Integrated Management and generously supported by Marcel Desautels, C.M., LLD’07.
