Tribute to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg | Central Synagogue Rosh Hashanah 5781/2020
Some words from Rabbi Angela Buchdahl at our morning Rosh HaShanah service (September 19, 2020); "When a Jew dies, there is a custom that a shomer, or protector, sits watch with the body, keeping it company and reciting psalms until she is laid to rest. Ruth Bader Ginsburg is not yet buried, but we can do the mitzvah of being her virtual shomrim. Let us now sit by her side and recite this psalm in watchful presence, as we pray for God to watch over her soul before she is laid to rest in peace."
