SpaceX Starship SN8 historic launch and landing fail
Elon Musk’s SpaceX made Starship SN8’s first high-altitude (12.5km) test flight (launch and landing) at Boca Chica (Texas) on December 8, 2020. Elon Musk’s explanations on SN8 first flight and construction of Raptor engine are included in this recap video (highlights). SpaceX is currently continuing to deploy a Starship spacecraft production base. Interplanetary Transportation System is the general aim for Elon and his company. He recently said that according to his plans humanity can probably land on Mars’ surface in 6 years (Axel Springer 2020 interview). Moon mission is closer than ever for now. Starship Serial Number 8 developed in Texas. Production sequence consists of two main threads. The first one is development, second one is testing. SN8 passed all tests to make historic flight from Cameron County on December 8, 2020. Vehicle equipped with three Raptor engines. There were several Static Fire tests and several engines were destroyed. But SpaceX replaced them and the last Static Fire test was successful. I’ve made some renders of Starship Lunar vehicle and Starship SN8 to visualize the landing sequence of the vehicle.
