#Mali is facing increasing isolation after the West African bloc #ECOWAS imposed new #sanctions, including border closures, a trade embargo and a freeze on state assets, over delays in restoring civilian rule. Dr. Niagalé Bagayoko, chair of the African Security Sector Network, joins FRANCE 24 to analyse why ECOWAS has taken such a stance. Mali's junta suggested staying in power for up to five more years, far beyond "what was acceptable in the eyes of the regional organisation," she explains.
