God’s Own Country is a British BAFTA nominated film written and directed by Francis Lee about Johnny Saxby, a young sheep farmer in Yorkshire whose life is transformed by the arrival of a Romanian migrant worker called Gheorghe.

Although the piece has a lot to say about the pressures of life in rural northern England and potentially makes a profound comment on tolerance and understanding in a post-Brexit nation, today in ten-minute textualism, I want to focus on how Lee uses the visual medium of film to tell his story effectively.
