The main issue with D&D 5E - How WOTC is exploiting us.

I have been thinking of making a video like this for quite some time but I have never really had the strength to actually sit down, edit and make a video. But I just felt like now was the time to rant after I saw that Wizards of the Coast just announced they will release Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft. It felt like my cup had been filled to the brim and I am slowly moving away completely from D&D. It feels like a waste of money and time in the end for me as a Dungeon Master to not have any lore to work with, nor all of the rules that should be included in the Dungeon Master's Guide or the Player's handbook. Instead WOTC decides to split their rules up into different pre-written adventures that you will need to purchase.

This also leaves you with too many books to carry with you from session to session, it makes everything bloated. But they have a solution to your problem! D&D Beyond, where these digital books cost as much as the physical books. You would get a physical map in Tomb of Annihilation, but you will not get it on D&D beyond, you will have to print it there. I am ranting as I am typing this, I am sorry.

Please keep it civil in the comments. I am not by any stretch of the imagination forbidding you from enjoying D&D 5E. If you enjoy D&D and feel like you will do so for many more years to come, good on ya! But since I've sunk in hundreds of dollars into the 5'th installment of Dungeons and Dragons I feel like I should be able to vent my frustrations with the system and how marketing is done.
