Growing concerns over continued attacks on emergency personnel: JP von Benecke
The Gauteng Health Department is calling on the public to help put an end to continuing attacks on Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel. This follows the recent attack on two EMS crew members who were shot at while responding to an emergency call at Dukathole informal settlement in Germiston. This wayward behaviour is not unique to Gauteng only but also happens in other parts of the country. The Western Cape Health department, last year, reported that there have been at least 12 attacks on EMS personnel in the province since the beginning of 2020 alone. We are now joined by Gauteng Emergency Medical Services Operations Manager JP von Benecke.
