We go mudlarking until moonrise, on Friday the 13th!! The perfect day to look at a few Scottish superstitions and consider their Celtic origins!
Today, we return to the banks of the River Tay - it is a beautiful day, and the tide is just on its way out. We search for gems, treasures and oddities until the sun sets and the moon begins to rise behind the amazing lighthouse here on the foreshore of this great river. We find some lovely pieces - some really lovely rare colours - and the gorgeous agates we find on this gem bay! Our aspiration to collect enough Smarties lids to have our own alphabet set is getting closer - we find more here than we have anywhere else - for any fans of smarties lids, we even found a white one! Yes, that is quite the thing among the smarties lid collectors out there!
As its Friday the 13th, the most superstitious date in the calendar, we take a look at a few superstitions that are said to originate in Scotland and we look at the old Celtic cultural ideas that lie at the foundations of these age old ideas! Why is lucky white heather lucky? Why are Black Cats both good, and, bad luck?! And, why is it bad luck to say rabbit or pig on a Scottish fishing vessel? We'll tell you!
Keeping up with our Christmas Decoration crafting, Nicole makes a small number of gorgeous Sea Glass Christmas Trees!! These designs work equally well as a pendent or tree decoration - one design will be limited to 6 of these unique Sea Glass Christmas Trees, a few in a slightly different design will be made available soon, so check back on the ETSY shop if you are interested. A PDF guide, is available for this design via this link:

COVID 19 update:
At the time of filming, the area we live and film in was in a state of caution - this means we should not travel outside of the region. At present, the recommendations DO NOT prevent us from travelling to and filming in any of the locations you have seen us work in - they are all very local to us. Today, it was announced that we will go into a slightly higher state of caution - however, travel within our area is still not restricted, so we will continue to film in very socially distanced locations, until we are advised not to. We will however continue to practice social distancing and we will not travel outside of our region. Although we are allowed to travel across the river, we chose not to at this time, as doing so would take us into a higher populated area.
We wish you all good health, happiness - we have been overwhelmed when you have contacted us to say that our wee adventures have given you a little break away from the stress around the world at present. We hope that, in some small way, we can continue to open a window onto the calm and beauty that is still all around us... this will be over, until it is, stay safe and well, friends.
