Developed by Apex Computer Productions and published by Hewson in 1989

Before John and Steve Rowlands shot to stardom with Creatures, they made Cyberdyne Warrior.

This flick-screen shooter bears all the hallmarks of the duo's creative and programming talents, and it's a beautiful game to look at. The colour palette choices and animations are superb, giving the game a much more vibrant - psychedelic even - aesthetic than the drab browns and yellows of contemporary titles.

The objective is to locate all of the droids in a given level, then return them to the shop. Each droid earns you a bounty of sorts, which you can spend on bigger and better guns, and it's possible to earn extra credits by seeking out the coins located in many of the game's screens.

It's not as refined as Retrograde, Apex's follow-up game, but it's still a polished title worthy of your attention.
