Organic has two meanings, which do you prefer?
00:00 Organic Gardening (not farming)
00:58 Bed by cabin, history of organic beside no dig organic gardening micro scale
04:08 New Area, clearing weeds without soil cultivation, in organic context
06:13 Greenhouse: illustrate that you have to test every delivery of compost for weed killers.
09:15 Compost Bays - what is fertility?
10:16 Polytunnel to conclude, seeing the results of one application of compost, for health.
Organic gardening and farming has two aspects. Which is more vital?
1 Avoid the negatives. Don't use synthetic chemicals and don't harm wildlife
2 Embrace the positives. Create healthy soil for healthy plants and people. Increase wildlife.
Language and words are important. The word organic is loosely used to describe even manures with poisons, or products which are no more health-giving than many others.
I emphasise the value of creating infectious health.
Filmed and directed by Edward Dowding, who helped with how to present and explain the varied issues. This video took more takes than normal for us, and it is still incomplete.
At Homeacres late March 2021, no dig garden in temperate, oceanic climate.
Thanks to Sarah McEwan of The RHS, for suggesting this subject.
The study I mention is here https://craftsmanship.net/sidebar/compost-and-nitrogen-heroic-partners-or-sneaky-collaborators-in-pollution/
Other soil scientists are moving this way https://www.rothamsted.ac.uk/news/where-there’s-muck-there’s-brass#PRESSOFFICE-1
I mention Eve Balfour's The Living Soil 1943, and The Peckham Experiment c. 1930-1950.
