13th May 2021: Ascension~ Why do our loved ones have to leave us?

Today we commemorate the ascension of Jesus into heaven and his return in glory to God, our heavenly Father. Jesus left his disciples in order to gift them with the Holy Spirit, the Advocate who would empower them to spread the Good News so that all who believe in Him will be saved. His ascension also showed us that the ultimate resting place for Christians is with God in our eternal heavenly home. Hence we should not despair if our loved ones who have been baptised were to die and leave us because we can be comforted that they will be with God in the end. As Christians, like the disciples the first Christians, we are now tasked to be Jesus’s hands and feet to bring the good news to our loved ones and those around us.
