Hi guys,
After a long weekend at EGX 2018, the biggest gaming event in the UK (from which I'm still buzzing about!) I thought I'd take a breather while I put my coverage of the event together to talk a bit more about Octopath Traveler. This time I wanted to introduce the battle system to those are completely new to the game or those who are shopping around the Nintendo eShop considering buying it or not.

I take an in-depth view at the battle system of the turn-based battle system in Octopath Traveler and show you why this game has got so much praise and what sets it apart from just your vanilla jrpg turn-based combat.

This game has really clever design which turns simple concepts into powerful strategic mechanics. I'm mostly talking about the vulnerability and break system. Of course, there are break systems in many jrpgs. The concept of "breaking" an enemy in order to get some advantage over them is hardly new, but the consequences of breaking the enemy plus the way you go about it are pretty original in Octopath Traveler.

I actually made this video a while ago and since then I've progressed a lot with Octopath. Like a great book, I just simply can't put it down. I'm starting all the character's Chapter 4 now so I'll probably finish it in a couple of days :( It is really is an UNMISSABLE game if you love jrpgs or rpgs in general and now christmas is approaching fast I think it's safe to say it will definitely rank as one of the top 10 games of 2018.

So I really recommend you get Octopath Traveler, but why not sit back and watch this video beforehand so you can make up your mind for good if this is a game that deserves you hard-earned penny over all the other amazing games that keep coming out? :)
