ABOUT CHANDAN TIWARI
"A vocal artist, Miss Chandan Tiwari originally hails from Badka Ganw in Bihar's Bhojpur district. After completing her education from Jharkhand's Bokaro, she has been consistently engaged in performing the folk music of Bihar. The Sangeet Natak Akademi under the Government of India, bestowed upon her the prestigious 'Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar' for her promising contributions to folk music. She was also honoured with the 'Vindhyavasini Devi Samman' (Bihar kala Samman) by the Government of Bihar. Famous Weekly News magazines 'India Today' included her on its cover, among the rising stars of the country. News 24 honoured her as the 'Best Traditional Folk Singer', while the prestigious Bhojpuri organization, Paschim Banga Bhojpuri Council named her as 'Bhojpuri Kokila'. The Bihar Commission for Women has placed her among the five youth icons of the state, while newspapers like Prabhat Khabar have bestowed upon her the 'Aparajita Samman''. Miss Tiwari has been conferred with many accolades, and has performed in more than 400 concerts of different dimensions, from remote villages to big cities, metros, national and international stages. She represented Indian folk music at the International Music Festival held in Netherlands, Bihar Mahotsav held at Dubai, besides performing the folk music of Bihar in notable national venues like Bharat Bhavan (Bhopal), Kala Bhavan (Imphal), JNU (New Delhi), MGHAV (Wardha), DU, BHU (Varanasi), CUG (Gandhinagar), India Habitat Center, and Kala Bhavan (Bengaluru). In Famous web series 'Maharani', Miss tiwari sing a song. Having made a mark by singing traditional songs, she is well-known for her Purbiyatan series under which she has been continuously performing many songs based on more than two dozen subjects. Gandhigeet, Sabke Ram, Girmitiya Sangeet,Sajha Raag, Ganga Maiya, Nadia Dheere Baho, Purkhagan, Legends and Legacy, Biharnama, Purbia Ustad, Mallikanama, Charkhawa are some of the popular elements in the series. Miss Tiwari believes that all artforms have their own significance and value in the world, however what sets folk music aparts, is its nature of enhacing collectivity, and eliminating superiority. In folk music, natural elements, landforms, flora and fauna are all accorded equal importance. She believes that art is not just a means or medium of entertainment, but has a deep concern of making society much more beautiful by evolving humanism. Art is a medium that frees the human world from discriminations of caste and creed, communal and religious differences, gender inequality, by transforming itself as an independent and engaging religion.”
