Super Typhoon Halong strongest of the year - 1am JST November 6

Super Typhoon Halong put on a remarkable display of strength this evening, with cloud tops of -82 degrees Celsius completely surrounding a warm eye of +19 degrees, correlating with a 190mph storm - the third strongest of the decade.

Halong is not likely to strengthen much more as it saunters west-northwest, before turning northwards and then northeastwards as it weakens. The only land area under any kind of threat is Minamitorishima.
