Former U.S. submarine officer Marc Koehler shared this powerful insight on Leadership with Heart:
"On a submarine, when a fire breaks out in the engine room, the leader is the person closest to the fire. Whether they've been on board for three days or years, they must be ready to step in and lead."
That line stopped me in my tracks.
Marc's lived experience dismantles the idea that leadership is reserved for the few. Instead, it's about preparation, belief, and the willingness to act. Leadership isn't something you're granted. It's something you practice.
Most importantly, it's not what we lack; it's what we don't use.
