Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing - Sunshine Tour Single Race with Amigo

The Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Single Race videos continue. At this point, it looks like I may be uploading one of these videos per month since I'm too busy most of the time to do any more than that. Here, I enthusiastically present my favorite SEGA character: Amigo from the Samba De Amigo titles.

So, I've taken a risk. I've decided to have "Samba De Janerio", which is licensed music, play for the single race video through Sunshine Tour. The giant floating heads of Amigo, Amiga, and Linda are what I think are the coolest feature of this course; they seem to add such originality and amazement to the design (it seems especially impressive for the Wii version, since it's delightful to see the console handle such large models without slowing down). I'm not certain of why Amiga's nose has been colored black on the giant floating head of her, but I can only speculate that improper coloring or model rendering had caused her nose to be black (it's present in all three home console and PC versions, also). The track's name may also have a reference to the Sunshine Engine, which is a custom-made spoke graphics engine Sumo Digital used to develop Virtua Tennis 3, Virtua Tennis 2009, Sega Superstars Tennis, and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing (according to an interview with a lead game developer from the company).

The course is relatively straightforward, but there are plenty of opportunies for drifting. Take great care around the star pinatas/balloons that float up and down when entering the Samba Concert area (just beyond the colorful vortex featuring a giant floating head of Amigo). When possible and if they're low enough, use a weapon to pop them so that they will not cause the character to spin out; if drifting, the speed boost can also be released to go through them harmlessly. Otherwise, driving more towards the outside (left side) of the curve can be helpful to avoid the star pinatas/balloons that are low to the ground.

This video was recorded from the Nintendo Wii version. The game was played with the Wii Wheel control scheme, with the race set on the Beginner difficulty.
