We talk a lot about freedom, but when you really look around, it feels like the word’s lost its meaning. What was once something powerful, bought at a high price, is now twisted and used for all the wrong reasons—exploitation, abuse, violence, theft, and stuff so dark it’s hard to even describe.

It’s easy to get caught up in anger and confusion and ask, “Where’s God in all this mess? How could He let this happen?”

But maybe we’re asking the wrong questions. Instead of wondering where God is, maybe we should be asking why we use our freedom to do harm. Why do we, with our free will, choose to hurt others?

Sometimes we end up suffering because of someone else’s mistakes or evil actions, even when we did nothing to deserve it.

God hasn’t gone anywhere—He’s right where He’s always been, arms wide open, just waiting for us to turn to Him. He’s running towards us the moment we call out His name. He’s right there with the broken-hearted, and He’ll never leave us hanging.

Yeah, this world can be brutal—bones break, hearts shatter—but in the end, light will always beat the darkness.

If your heart’s in pieces, you’ll find God right there with you; if you’re kicked in the gut, he’ll help you catch your breath ~ Psalms 34:18
