‘Punished for his views’: Jewish cricketer stripped of captaincy

Shadow Home Affairs and Cyber Security Minister James Paterson says it is “self-evident” that Jewish cricketer David Teeger was sacked over the basis of his faith.

“It seems very self-evident that this is a case of discrimination and persecution of someone on the basis of their faith,” Mr Paterson told Sky News host Sharri Markson.

“It is a stain on South Africa Cricket that they are allowing this to happen.

“Seems like he is being punished for his views.”

Mr Paterson sat down with Ms Markson to discuss Jewish cricketer David Teeger being stripped of captaincy over Gaza protest fears.
